eco-printed floral silk

Sydni Gause is a self-taught natural dyer. She tends to her own dye garden in North Florida where she grows dye plants year round. Parallel to natural dyeing, Sydni teaches in higher education as an Adjunct Professor of Art. She has an education in both Fine Art and Sculpture and considers her dye endeavors as a part of her ongoing studio practice.

This collection was created for us. Each of the twelve silks is unique. All are eco-printed with fresh and dried flowers grown in Sydni's garden. She used Rose, Cosmos, Scabiosa, Coreopsis, Hollyhock, and Dahlia petals. Due to the nature of handmade products, you may expect slight imperfections, which only add to the their wabi-sabi qualities. Fun fact: purple Cosmos print light blue, but there are other kinds of Cosmos scattered on the silk canvas. Can you spot them?

Care: by simply hand-washing your silk in cold water with a drop of dish-soap (preferably the one that's kind to the environment). Steam your silk dry, or iron on high heat to rid yourself of stubborn wrinkles.
